Genci Gjonçaj, the Secretary-General of the Albanian Parliament, accompanied by other senior officials from the Parliament Services, participated in an ECPRD seminar on the implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in parliamentary processes, held at the Althingi, the Parliament of Iceland.
The seminar, titled "Enhancing the Legislative Process through Artificial Intelligence and Data Structures," focused on the transformative role of technology in parliamentary work. It offered a platform for sharing best practices among parliamentary representatives from various European countries.
Over the course of this two-day event, it was highlighted that AI is revolutionizing parliamentary operations by boosting efficiency, automating routine tasks, and allowing parliamentary administration to focus on enhancing quality and addressing more complex issues.
Investing in Artificial Intelligence is a core objective of the Albanian Parliament's new Strategic Plan for 2025-2030, drawing inspiration from successful AI models implemented by the European Parliament, as well as those in Belgium, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, and other countries.
AI tools are expected to help the Albanian Parliament improve transparency, efficiency, and inclusivity in the legislative process, thus fulfilling its democratic mandate and reinforcing its role in the country's EU integration efforts.
